Use invented data for an AI prototype

By SI100x · Published

A prototype does not need private customer records to demonstrate a workflow. Invented examples let you explore inputs, outputs and error handling while reducing the chance of unnecessary disclosure.

Try this exercise

  1. List the fields the prototype actually needs. Create clearly fictional examples that cover ordinary cases and edge cases without resembling a real person’s sensitive record.
  2. Keep the sample dataset separate from production connections. Label it as practice data in screenshots and demonstrations so it is not mistaken for actual customer evidence.
  3. Check prompts, logs and saved outputs for accidental private values. If the prototype later needs real data, review the purpose and authorized destination before introducing it.

Check your result

You should be able to demonstrate the feature without transmitting credentials or private records. Synthetic data is still something to design carefully: unrealistic examples can hide problems that a future authorized test must address.
