AI practice
Define an AI feature by the task it must support
By SI100x · Published
An AI feature is easier to evaluate when its job is narrow and visible. Start with the user’s task, the input and the required output before deciding which model or framework to use.
Try this exercise
- Choose a small task such as turning invented meeting notes into action items. Define what counts as an action item and what information the output must retain.
- Write several examples yourself, including an input with no action items and one with ambiguous wording. Decide how uncertainty should be represented.
- Compare generated outputs with the examples. Record missing information and invented details separately, then revise the task or interface where necessary.
Check your result
You should be able to say what a useful output looks like without relying on whether it sounds polished. Keep a human review step for information that affects real decisions.
