Design an AI summary that preserves important omissions

By SI100x · Published

A summary should make information easier to review without quietly changing its meaning. Practice with short invented text so you can compare the output closely with the original.

Try this exercise

  1. Create a source with a decision, an exception and an unresolved question. Define which of those elements the summary must retain.
  2. Ask for a concise summary and inspect it sentence by sentence. Look for omitted exceptions, invented conclusions and changes in who is responsible for an action.
  3. Adjust the instructions or add review guidance when an omission matters. Compare the revised output with the same source before trying more examples.

Check your result

A shorter answer is not automatically a better summary. Keep access to the source and make it clear when a summary is a generated aid rather than an authoritative replacement.
