Build a portfolio explanation from your own work
By SI100x · Published
A portfolio entry is stronger when it explains a real problem, the choices you made and what you verified. You do not need to imply that a practice project had customers or that a course produced a job offer.
Try this exercise
- State who the project is designed for and the task it supports. Label sample data and classroom exercises honestly.
- Describe one tradeoff you made and show the behavior it affected. Include a screenshot or a small example that demonstrates the decision.
- List what you tested, what is still incomplete and what you would improve next. Credit resources and collaborators where appropriate.
Check your result
A reader should be able to distinguish your contribution from a template or guided example. Avoid invented user counts, testimonials and employment outcomes. Clear evidence of your work is more useful than claims you cannot support.
